Louis is a retired States of Jersey Police Inspector, having served with the Force for thirty-one years. During his service Louis actively sought opportunities to obtain specialist policing skills and attended a wide range of National Policing courses and working secondments within such areas such as Fraud and Financial Investigation, Crime Analysis, Special Branch, Drugs, Firearms, Public Order and Hostage Negotiation
Louis qualified in a range of specialist areas, Crime Analyst, Authorised Firearms Officer, Tactical Firearms Officer, Sniper and National Firearms Silver Commander. He also qualified as a National Level 1 Surveillance officer, National Surveillance Trainer, National Drugs Expert Witness, National Hostage and Terrorist Negotiator, Public Order Tactical Advisor, Trainer and Commander of Major Sporting Events
Louis has worked with the National Crime Agency on major international drugs trafficking investigations and provided Tactical Advice to Northumbria Police and the Durham Constabulary for the visit of the President of the United States, George W Bush and the British Prime Minister, the Right Honorable Tony Blair to Sedgefield all of these areas of operation required the highest level of security vetting
In 2003 Louis was involved in the arrest of a male for possession of child pornography, who held Louis at knife point, a supervisor commented "Louis displayed great courage and presence of mind whilst dealing with this threatening situation."
In 2005 Louis was seconded to the Security Services following a series of terrorist bombing incidents in London
Louis received a number of Chief Officer Certificates in relation to major Drugs Trafficking Investigations and most notably was the deputy Senior Investigating Officer for the Curtis Warren, formerly Interpol's Target 1, investigation and was subsequently described as "an officer who protected the Island of Jersey from one of the UK's worst criminals" and "was part of a professional and effective investigation team"
Louis is an Associate Member with the National Association of Licensed Paralegals as well as being a member of the Association of British Investigators
